Une farce philosophique librement adaptée et inspirée de la pièce « Karl Marx le retour », écrite par l’historien américain Howard Zinn.

« Karl Marx a obtenu une autorisation spéciale de l’administration céleste pour revenir sur Terre pendant une heure. « Mais attention, pas d’agitation ! »
L’administration lui a accordé un ange gardien musicien pour le protéger, dit-elle, mais surtout pour surveiller son discours. Un cafouillage bureaucratique et le voilà à New York. Marx se raconte tantôt d’une manière joyeuse et ironique, tantôt emporté par de saines colères face à l’humanité qui se dégrade. Il évoque sa vie à Londres avec sa femme Jenny et ses enfants. Il parle de sa complicité avec son ami Engels et des débats d’idées avec ses compagnons révolutionnaires contemporains réfugiés comme lui. Il chante la Commune de Paris avec son ange gardien et sa femme Jenny.

Un parti pris d’un Marx qui dévoile sa part d’humanité avec humour comme autant d’antidote à la résignation. Howard ZINN (né le 24 août 1922 à Brooklyn et mort le 27 janvier 2010 à Santa Monica, Californie) est un historien et politologue américain, professeur au département de science politique de l’université de Boston durant 24 ans.
Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il s’engage dans l’armée de l’air et est nommé lieutenant bombardier naviguant. Son expérience dans l’armée a été le déclencheur de son positionnement politique pacifiste qui élève au rang de devoir la désobéissance civile.
Il a été un acteur de premier plan du mouvement des droits civiques et du courant pacifiste aux États-Unis.
